EMV chip technology has enhanced security for credit card users and has become the standard for the industry. According to Visa, chip cards have reduced counterfeit fraud by 66 percent.1New regulations released in October 2015 required merchants to transition to EMV, but fuel stations’ deadlines were most recently extended to 2020. Some fueling centers are concerned about the costs of transitioning.
